Job summary

Vista Health System in Illinois seeks a Medical Technologist in the Laboratory to perform diagnostic testing on blood and specimens using manual and automated methods. You will collect specimens, analyze tests, interpret results, and report findings while supporting quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The role may involve blood bank testing assistance, cross-coverage, and supervision when needed. Requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Medical Technology or 60 semester hours with science

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related science
• OR 60 semester hours with required science and laboratory coursework
• Completion of an approved clinical laboratory training program
• OR minimum 3 months documented training in each testing specialty performed
• ASCP or equivalent certification required; must obtain within one year of hire

Responsibilities

• Collect and process patient specimens, including venipuncture
• Perform laboratory testing according to established procedures
• Review, interpret, and accurately report test results in the LIS
• Identify and report critical and abnormal results
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
• Perform quality control, calibrations, and proficiency testing
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and a clean work environment
• Assist with training and orientation of new staff
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, regulatory, and safety standards
• Provide general supervisory coverage when required
• Other duties as assigned
