Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Florence, SC, seeks a Medical Lab Tech/MT to perform diagnostic testing and support patient care. You will handle specimens, operate analyzers, and ensure quality control in a 24/7 Florence lab.

Qualifications

ASCP or AMT certification as MLT or MT/MLS.
SC licensure as applicable for laboratory professionals.
BLS certification preferred or per MUSC policy.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and complex clinical laboratory tests across chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microbiology and transfusion services.
Accurately receive, label, process and analyze patient specimens per protocols.
Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and instruments.
Review and validate test results; communicate critical values to clinicians.
Document quality control, participate in proficiency testing and QA activities.
Adhere to infection control and biosafety procedures; use PPE and maintain a clean work area.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses and healthcare teams; provide test methodology guidance.
Participate in training of new staff and rotating personnel; model MUSC values.
Engage in process improvement efforts to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
