Job summary

LewisGale Hospital Alleghany, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform clinical laboratory procedures in a fast-paced hospital lab. The role includes QA/QC testing, instrument maintenance, and adherence to safety and billing policies.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited Clinical Laboratory Science program, with ASCP/NCA eligibility; 1–2 years of laboratory experience is preferred, and a commitment to patient confidentiality is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited School of Clinical Laboratory Science.
• ASCP/NCA eligible required; ASCP/NCA certified preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs required procedures in the department according to protocol.
• Makes proper decisions utilizing job knowledge and works independently.
• Demonstrates proficiency in designated sections through QA/QC testing.
• Prioritizes work to ensure timely completions (Stat, Routine, Urgent).
• Assists leadership in miscellaneous duties and shares daily workload in phlebotomy and processing.
• Maintains communication with coordinators, coworkers and patients while upholding confidentiality.
