Job summary

Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, CT is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform qualitative and quantitative analyses on patient specimens using a variety of analytical techniques. Responsibilities include hematology, chemistry, serology, microbiology, clinical microscopy and transfusion procedures; report critical values promptly and maintain quality and safety in the lab.

Candidates should have a BS degree, ASCP/NCA/HEW or equivalent certification preferred, and 1-3 years generalist

Qualifications

• BS degree required or equivalent.
• ASCP/NCA/HEW certification or equivalent preferred.
• 1-3 years generalist experience including blood bank preferred.
• Must have basic computer skills and ability to access hospital systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on patient specimens (blood, body fluids, culture material, feces) using various techniques.
• Perform hematology, chemistry, serology, microbiology, clinical microscopy and transfusion procedures as defined by procedures manual.
• Relay information regarding critical values and abnormal results to appropriate personnel.
