Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary:

Performs hematologic, chemical, microscopic, morphologic, immunologic, and microbiologic testing reliably and promptly, following hospital and departmental policies. Implements new instrumentation, develops procedures, trains staff, participates in QA activities, and supports accreditation standards, including CAP guidelines.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

• Understanding policies and practices necessary for lab operations.
• Making decisions and prioritizing procedures independently.
• Demonstrating competency in designated lab sections, including phlebotomy.
• Prioritizing work to meet deadlines, including STAT and routine specimens.
• Maintaining effective communication with colleagues and clients.
• Performing laboratory computer tasks and managing the LIS.
• Performing instrument maintenance, quality control, and troubleshooting.
• Adhering to safety, quality, billing, and HIPAA policies, respecting the hospital's mission and values.
• Promoting customer satisfaction and service excellence.
• Maintaining punctuality and attendance as per policy.

Education & Qualifications:

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited program; ASCP eligible or equivalent certification.
