Summary
This Medical Support Assistant (Advanced), also known as an Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA), is located in the Diagnostic & Therapeutic Care Line at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Houston, Texas.

Duties
The role involves administrative support within a complex, teaching department providing a range of imaging services. Responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to provide imaging services.
  2. Coordinating patient access and care with the care team.
  3. Communicating effectively with patients, departments, and external agencies.
  4. Managing patient information, scheduling, and appointment coordination.
  5. Participating in team huddles and adjusting workflows as needed.
  6. Monitoring pre-appointment requirements and ensuring proper documentation.
  7. Training other MSAs at the advanced level.
  8. Ensuring compliance with policies and managing electronic medical records and scheduling systems.

Work Schedule: Typically Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with schedule adjustments based on agency needs.

For GS-06, one year of specialized experience in scheduling, patient support, and knowledge of medical terminology is required, along with demonstrated KSAs such as communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
