Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, seeks a Medical Secretary Supervisor for its Western Tidewater, Southside, and Peninsula practices.

You will supervise all office secretarial functions, participate in scheduling and workflow improvements, and lead front office staff to ensure smooth patient flow and service quality.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some College or Associate's Degree in Business or Healthcare Management preferred.
  • Minimum three years' secretarial experience required.
  • Medical office experience strongly preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of medical office experience, with one to three (1-3) years or more of supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and collection-related legal requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Provides administrative support to physicians and management.
  • Other duties as requested or assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.
