Virginia Oncology Associates in Suffolk, VA is hiring a Medical Assistant to support our oncology/hematology clinic. This in-person, full-time position offers benefits including M/D/V, Life Insurance, and a 401(k).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a multi-physician practice.
• Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• CMA strongly preferred.
• Willingness to travel between regional sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment.
• Promote efficient patient flow during exams and procedures.
• Escort patients to and from exam rooms and offices.
• Record patient data prior to visits, including vitals, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
• Obtain patient records required by physician before treatment or procedures.
• Schedule tests, procedures, and hospital admissions; follow up on test results as needed.
• Arrange pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.
• Perform other administrative duties as requested.

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Assistant to support our office located in Suffolk.

Compensation Range

$16.88 - $34.65. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment including exams and procedures.
• Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care, i.e. exams, and procedures.
• Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
• Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limit to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
• Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures
• May schedule patient tests, procedures, and hospital admissions and mayschedule appointments to follow up on test results as needed
• Arranges for pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as needed
• Performs other administrative duties as requested by supervisor or physician

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience required, preferably in a multi-physician practice
• Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate up to date knowledge of the profession and industry
• CMA strongly preferred.
• Must be willing to travel between sites in your region, as needed
