The role supports daily business activities in a hands-on environment, primarily delivering support services under supervision. This position supports day-to-day secretarial, operational, and supply tasks at a single site, including planning, organizing, staffing, and scheduling for physician support.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of healthcare experience involving staffing and scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of healthcare experience including staffing and scheduling.
  • Medical transcription experience.
Duties and Responsibilities

The following are general duties; other tasks may be assigned:

  • Handle routine administrative duties for the Medical Office.
  • Verify insurance on registrations and educate patients about their insurance.
  • Complete insurance authorizations and pre-certifications.
  • Communicate with patients regarding financial responsibilities and collections.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain office records.
  • Obtain insurance billing information and keep abreast of policies.
  • Act as receptionist, greet visitors, and maintain a professional environment.
  • Manage documentation, patient follow-ups, and office supplies.
  • Register patients, retrieve documentation, and submit insurance information.
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, and insurance companies about authorizations.
  • Determine procedure costs, educate patients on coverage options, and handle payments.
  • Ensure financial and collection accuracy, and handle monies appropriately.
  • Provide patient education on office guidelines.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent sitting, occasional standing, lifting 10-15 lbs.
  • Exposure to typical office conditions.
  • Manual dexterity for computer use, visual and auditory ability for report reading and instructions.
Skills & Abilities
  • Computer literacy, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • High tact due to frequent interactions.
  • Understanding of healthcare expenses, billing, revenue, and reimbursement.
  • Analytical skills, team leadership, and decision-making.
