Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for plasma pheresis.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

  1. Assist qualified donors in completing the screening process, including assessing health history, answering medical questions, referring donors to medical staff if needed, and performing health screenings such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature. Perform finger sticks to obtain hematocrit and protein levels.
  2. After training, educate new donors about therapeutic products, screening, tests, appointment system, fees, policies, nutrition, and other relevant information. Ensure donor questions are answered professionally and promptly.
  3. Register applicants and transfer donors as trained and needed.
  4. Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to appropriate staff.
  5. Monitor donors during and after pheresis for reactions, notifying staff if necessary.
  6. Notify supervisors of donor flow issues.
  7. Accurately record donor data in the electronic management system as per SOPs.
  8. Understand policies related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
  9. Maintain a clean, efficient work environment, ensuring supplies are available, and follow HSE and OSHA policies. Promote safety at all times.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  11. Cross-train in other areas as needed.
  12. Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Experience

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • At least three months of experience in a clerical or customer service role, preferably in a medical or healthcare environment, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.

Working Conditions

  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Follow guidelines and instructions.
  • Ability to see, speak with customers, and observe equipment operation.
  • Stand and walk frequently, up to 100% of the time.
  • Reach, bend, kneel, and have manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
  • Expose to chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens.
  • Wear PPE as required.
  • Work overtime and extended hours as needed.
