Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Texas is seeking an entry-level Laboratory Assistant to support a cancer biology research lab. You will perform standard experiments on patient or animal-derived specimens under supervision, maintain equipment, and assist with data collection and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting laboratory experiments, including cell culture, Western blotting, RT-qPCR, and ELISAs.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure the availability of necessary supplies.
• Conduct routine laboratory assays.
• Participate in animal studies with mouse models of breast cancer.
• Contribute to data collection, entry, and analysis of experimental results.
• Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and manuscripts related to the research findings.
• Perform other research-related duties as assigned by the principal investigator (PI).

Position Description

Employees in this classification provide support in an assigned research laboratory. Duties include performing standard laboratory experiments and procedures on specimens from patients and/or experimental animals, routine maintenance and clean-up of the laboratory and caring for experimental animals. Work is performed under usual laboratory conditions. Some hazards may be present due to use of radioactive, carcinogenic or other potentially harmful substances.

Required Qualifications
