Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking a Medical Records Clerk to help manage and secure medical records within an institutional setting. The role emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and organized documentation across multiple files and logs.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, inventory control, processing referrals, and assisting with routine medical/dental reports. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of related experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Two years experience in a similar position required.
  • Additional education or specialized training may substitute for the required experience.
  • A valid driver's license is preferred, unless required by contract or applicable statute.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word for Windows, Excel and other PC applications preferred.
  • Minimum age requirement: must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain medical records, general files, logs and other related records and documents in an organized manner; maintain confidentiality and security of records.
  • Maintain a current inventory of clinic supplies; monitor sign in/out logs; prepare inventory reports.
  • Monitor outside referrals and coordinate transfer of medical records.
  • Assist in the preparation of routine medical and dental reports.
  • Read and comprehend medical instructions and policies, regulations and forms.
