Job summary

Majestic Care of South Bend is seeking a Medical Records LPN to join our team. The role involves creating and maintaining resident medical records in compliance with HIPAA and state/federal regulations.

You may also support the nursing care team on the floor during staffing shortages. Requirements include an active RN/LPN license in Indiana, CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days), and a year of medical records experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed as a RN or LPN in the state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing.
• Must hold an active CPR license or the ability to obtain within the first 30-days of hire; CPR license must be kept active and current throughout employment.
• Valid CPR teaching certificate preferred, but not required.
• One year of medical records experience, preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Create files for a new admissions.
• Ensure medical records are complete, assembled in standard order, and filed appropriately.
• Locate, sign out, and deliver medical records and follow-up to ensure they are returned.
• Compile statistical data such as admissions, discharges, deaths, births, and types of treatment given.
• Operate a computer to enter and retrieve data, type correspondence and produce reports.
• Restrict access to resident medical records to those staff members with a valid requirement.
