Job summary

Harrison County Hospital in Indiana is seeking a Certified Medical Coder (CCS) for a PRN day shift. The coder reports to the HIM Director and assigns ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes and CPT codes for billing and classification of inpatient and outpatient charts.

Applicants must have ICD-10-CM, CPT, CCS coding skills, medical terminology knowledge, and at least one year of hospital coding experience. High school diploma required.

Qualifications

• Must have detailed knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding.
• CCS certification and knowledge of third-party payer rules are required.
• Experience in hospital or physician coding environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10 diagnosis codes, procedures, and CPT codes for inpatient and outpatient charts.
• Ensure coding accuracy to support billing and compliance.

Job description

Harrison County Hospital is seeking a Certified Medical Coder (CCS).

This position is PRN (as needed), Day Shift.

The Coder reports directly to the HIM Director. The Coder performs the assignment of ICD-10 diagnosis and procedures and CPT procedure codes for billing and classification of medical records for both Inpatient and Outpatient charts.

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have detailed knowledge of third party reimbursement rules and regulations including Medicare and Medicaid.
• Complies and adheres to the Corporate Compliance Program.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Must be able to speak English fluently.
• Must be able to speak and understand medical terminology.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Must have high school education.
• Must have excellent ICD-10-CM, CPT, and CCS coding skills.
• Must have detailed knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy/physiology.
• Desire one year coding work experience in the hospital or physician setting.
• Desire a certified coding specialist, accredited record technician, registered records administrator.
