Job summary

Comprehensive EyeCare Partners seeks a Medical Records Clerk to ensure the accurate transmittal and accessibility of records across sites. You will handle faxes via the EHR, respond to calls, and create new patient charts while maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.

Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to multitask are essential for timely processing and support across CEP clinics.

Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of two years’ experience in healthcare.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service.
  • Exceptional multitasking and prioritization abilities.
  • Previous electronic health records experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Distributes all faxes through the EHR system in a timely manner with attention to detail and HIPAA compliance.
  • Make outgoing calls to obtain patient, provider or billing information.
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, emails, tasks and Teams messages.
  • Create new patient charts with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Process all requests for medical records in compliance with CEP/HIPAA guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations; assist staff across sites as needed.

This position corresponds with patients, physician offices, insurance providers, and other entities to ensure efficient and accurate transmittal and accessibility of documents. The clerk ensures that guidelines for PHI/HIPAA are followed and assists as necessary to meet meaningful use measures.Hours: 7:30 am - 5:00pmRoles and ResponsibilitiesCEP Medical Records maintains information across three organizations with multiple clinic locations.Distributes ALL faxes through EHR system in a timely manner, ensuring attention to details and accuracy according to HIPPA.Make outgoing calls as needed to obtain patient, provider or billing information.Receives and responds to incoming calls, emails, tasks and Teams messaging.Create New Patient charts as needed with attention to details/accuracy.Responsible for processing ALL requests for medical records in compliance with CEP/HIPPA guidelines.Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to federal, state and HIPPA guidelines regarding privacy of patient health information.Assist medical records staff throughout all sites when needed or time allows within your daily duties.Other duties as assigned.Experience RequirementRequires a minimum of two years’ experience in healthcare.Requires excellent communication skills and customer service.Requires exceptional multitasking and prioritization skills.Previous electronic health records experience preferred.Maintain professionalism and ensure operational efficiency.Ability to work independently and demonstrate great time management skills.Education RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED preferredPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
