Job summary

Kern River Transitional Care in Bakersfield, CA seeks a Medical Records Assistant to join our team full-time. The role maintains resident health records, supports admissions/discharges, and ensures HIPAA-compliant handling of information in the EHR.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple records tasks with accuracy and confidentiality, working closely with nursing, therapy, and physician staff. Experience in long-term care is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior medical records or healthcare admin experience preferred.
• Familiarity with electronic health records and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize, maintain, and update resident medical records.
• File clinical documentation accurately and promptly.
• Review records for completeness, signatures, dates, and required documentation.
• Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer records.
• Scan, upload, and index documents into the electronic health record.

Medical Records Assistant – Full-TimeKern River Transitional CarePay Range: $18.00–$21.00 per hour, based on experienceKern River Transitional Care is seeking an organized, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Records Assistant to join our team full-time.
