Provides general Medical Assistant assistance to Internal Medicine physician in an outpatient setting within the hospital. The staff member demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the ages of patients served. In addition, the staff member demonstrates competency in applying these principles when providing individualized care to specific patients. ResponsibilitiesFront Office Duties:
- Greet patients in a courteous and friendly manner, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments and procedures
- Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays or fees as needed.
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to patients and other callers.
- Complete patient check-in and check-out processes.
Back Office Duties:
- Take patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update electronic health records (EHR).
- Administer injections and immunizations as directed by healthcare providers. (on-site training provided)
- Perform basic laboratory tests, including specimen collection and processing.
- Provide patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.
RequirementsEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Education and Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Required: 1-2 Years experience in healthcare setting
- Preferred: 3-5 years experience in related field or specialty practice

- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
- Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Computer skills, customer service, organization, paying attention to detail, accurate in data entry, ability to work as a team member, answer multiple phone lines (multi task with a pleasant manner), and get along with other co-workers.
- Certificate of completion of medical terminology course preferred or proven expertise in medical terminology.
- Must be able to type a minimum of 40 wpm, with 55 wpm preferred.
- Must be able to travel to other locations as directed by management.
