Medical Payment Poster – Must-Have Requirements
- Previous experience in medical billing, payment posting, or healthcare revenue cycle required
- Strong understanding of insurance payments and medical billing processes
- Experience posting insurance and patient payments accurately
- Knowledge of EOBs, ERAs, denials, adjustments, and account reconciliation
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work with confidential patient information
- Experience with electronic medical records and billing systems preferred
Medical Payment Poster – Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Medical Payment Poster to join our healthcare revenue cycle team. This position is responsible for accurately posting insurance and patient payments, processing adjustments, and ensuring patient accounts are properly updated and reconciled. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in medical billing or payment posting and a strong understanding of insurance remittances, EOBs, ERAs, and account balances. After successfully completing the first 90 days onsite, this position is eligible for a remote work arrangement.
Medical Payment Poster – Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Post insurance payments, patient payments, and electronic remittance payments accurately
- Review and interpret EOBs, ERAs, and insurance remittance information
- Apply payments and contractual adjustments to the appropriate patient accounts
- Identify and resolve payment posting discrepancies
- Reconcile daily payment batches and ensure accurate account balances
- Research unidentified or misapplied payments
- Process refunds and adjustments according to established procedures
- Review accounts for posting errors and make necessary corrections
- Identify outstanding balances and discrepancies that may require additional follow-up
- Maintain accurate records of all payment activity
- Communicate with billing and accounts receivable teams regarding account issues
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements
- Meet established accuracy, productivity, and quality standards
Medical Payment Poster – Additional Qualifications
- 1+ year of medical payment posting or healthcare revenue cycle experience preferred
- Experience with insurance companies and payer remittances
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and patient payments
- Experience with EHR, EMR, or medical billing software
- Strong data entry and computer skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
