Description
A busy multi-specialty medical billing company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Cash Poster to join our team. The Medical Cash Poster is responsible for accurately posting insurance and patient payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate account balances and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, understands medical billing and insurance payments, and can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Accurately post insurance and patient payments to patient accounts.
- Post electronic and manual payments, including checks, EFTs, and ERAs.
- Review EOBs and ERAs to ensure payments, contractual adjustments, and patient responsibilities are posted correctly.
- Post denials, recoupments, refunds, and other financial transactions as required.
- Reconcile daily payment batches and identify discrepancies.
- Research and resolve payment posting issues and unidentified payments.
- Ensure payments are posted to the correct patient account, date of service, and provider.
- Review account balances for accuracy after payment posting.
- Identify and report credit balances, incorrect payments, and potential refunds.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow established posting procedures.
- Meet daily productivity and accuracy standards.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable regulations.
- Assist with month-end reconciliation and reporting as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of Medical Cash Posting experience.
- Experience with EPIC, eClinical Works, Athena Health, and Tebra practice management software preferred.
- Experience posting from insurance EOBs and ERAs, including accurately applying payment, contractual adjustments and patient responsibility.
- Experience with reconciling receipt of EFTs.
- Experience with Medicare, Illinois Medicaid, and commercial insurances.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and basic medical terminology is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office.
- Professional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
