Medical Oncologist – Boston Medical Center South (Brockton, MA)

Summary

Boston Medical Center South (BMC South), a member of the Boston Medical Center Health System, is seeking a Board‑Certified/Board‑Eligible Medical Oncologist to join our multidisciplinary oncology team. This physician will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered cancer care in a community‑based setting closely integrated with an academic medical center.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to adult oncology patients, including evaluation, diagnosis, and management of cancer and treatment‑related conditions.
• Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies.
• Conduct new patient consultations and follow‑up visits, including assessment of treatment response and toxicity management.
• Collaborate closely with radiation oncology, surgical oncology, infusion services, palliative care, and ancillary teams.
• Interpret diagnostic testing, including imaging, pathology, and laboratory data.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case conferences.
• Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers (NPs/PAs) and trainees.
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, and goals of care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical program development, and potential research activities.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology.
• Completion of an ACGME‑accredited Internal Medicine residency and Hematology/Oncology fellowship.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• DEA registration (or eligibility).
• Strong clinical judgment and commitment to patient‑centered care.
• Preferred: Experience in community‑based oncology practice.
• Interest in program development, quality improvement, or clinical research.
• Preferred: Bilingual skills (highly valued given patient population).
