We are seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our team. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt position.
Position Summary
The Medical Receptionist serves as the front line for the medical team; greeting patients, collecting payments, verifying billing information, and performing all clerical duties necessary to prepare patient visits.
Essential Duties
- Greet patients and visitors in person or via telephone, answer questions, or refer inquiries.
- Maintain confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Secure protected health information (PHI) by not leaving it in plain sight and logging off computers when unattended.
- Optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by phone.
- Keep patient appointments on schedule by notifying providers of arrivals, reviewing service delivery, and reminding about delays.
- Answer patient questions.
- Maintain the reception and waiting areas.
- Maintain patient accounts by recording and updating personal and financial information.
- Gather third-party payment information and record charges.
- Ensure each patient is offered and informed about the Sliding Fee Scale.
- Collect and process patient fees, including co-payments and sliding fee payments.
- Maintain patient registration and utilization data for reports.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely patient care.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the clinic and patient flow.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Fluent in Burmese/Karen.
- One year of medical office experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Bilingual preferred but not required.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Highly organized, attentive to detail, and accurate.
- Energetic with a positive attitude.
- Committed to excellent customer service and professionalism.
- Ability to work well with diverse people and cultures.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective in person and telephone communication with the public, patients, and staff.
