Job summary

The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community seeks a Medical Support Assistant to deliver quality healthcare under supervision. You will greet patients, assist with registration, verify insurance, and coordinate referrals in a culturally sensitive environment.

You will maintain patient records, schedule appointments, and ensure HIPAA compliance while providing exceptional customer service and teamwork with clinical staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 2-year degree preferred.
• Experience gathering patient information from patients/guardians.
• Careful handling of patient records and HIPAA compliance.
• Ability to operate common medical office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and answer calls; provide directions and appointment changes.
• Conduct initial patient interview; assist registration and insurance verification.
• Manage, file, and scan patient records in correct order.
• Coordinate referrals, pre-authorizations, and transportation as needed.
• Schedule appointments and ensure forms are attached to records.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and staff.
• Maintain charts and extract information for physicians.
• Monitor inventory and sign for supplies; follow procurement rules.
• Maintain health records per retention schedules.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
