Job summary

Catholic Health Services in New York is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to join our clinical care team. Under supervision, the MOA performs front-end and clinical duties to support patient flow, safety and satisfaction in a team-based setting.

You will prepare exam rooms, review schedules for gaps, escort patients, record vitals and history, assist with EKGs and in-office testing, collect labs, and help with front desk tasks as needed to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and/or GED required.
  • Graduation from a NYS-accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification preferred (NHA, AMT, AAMA, NCCT).
  • BCLS certification (in-person training only, American Heart Association).
  • Strong clinical skills including phlebotomy and aseptic technique.
  • A team-first attitude and commitment to providing respectful, quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare exam rooms: sanitize, stock supplies, and ensure medications/vaccines are ready for the day.
  • Review upcoming appointments and identify gaps in care (mammograms, colonoscopies, immunizations, etc.).
  • Escort patients to rooms and manage patient flow to maximize efficiency.
  • Take and record vitals, patient history, allergies, medications, and current concerns.
  • Assist with procedures, including EKGs, Holter monitors, and in-office testing.
  • Collect and process lab specimens; track and document results.
  • Perform quality control on equipment and testing materials.
  • Help at the front desk when needed - greeting patients, answering phones, verifying insurance.
  • Collaborate with providers and the care team to ensure the best patient outcomes.
