Responsibilities
  1. Take vital signs, recognize emergencies; prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas.
  2. Interview patients, take medical histories, prepare patients for procedures, and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
  3. Maintain medication records and respond to medical emergencies.
  4. Apply principles of Aseptic Technique and Infection Control.
  5. Perform diagnostic tests such as accuchecks, UA dipstick, rapid strep test, and influenza test.
  6. Perform procedures like electrocardiograms, ear lavage, pulmonary function tests, immunizations, and injections.
  7. Maintain logs for exam rooms, medical equipment, referrals, and emergency supplies.
  8. Schedule patient appointments and track referrals.
  9. Prepare work areas using universal precautions and stock supplies as needed.
  10. Assist physicians with patient care, documentation, and procedures.
  11. Document accurately in Electronic Health Records.
  12. Operate and maintain medical facilities and equipment safely.
  13. Perform CPR and first aid as necessary.
  14. Administer medications as directed by physicians.
  15. Communicate effectively with staff and patients, maintaining confidentiality.
  16. Work flexible hours and interpret instructions accurately.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Certificate from an accredited Medical Office Assistant program.
  3. Current registration/certification with NHA or AAHP, kept current.
  4. Preferred: Two years of experience in the field.
  5. Current BLS/CPR certification.
  6. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
