Position Summary and Responsibilities

1. Perform and submit accurate results on specimens for laboratory analysis to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment, including discrimination between similar items and correction using preset guidelines.
2. Perform basic maintenance of laboratory instruments.
3. Recognize unusual results or abnormalities and take prompt, appropriate action to ensure test result accuracy and validity.
4. Notify supervisors or section leaders when decisions are outside preset criteria.
5. Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
6. Conduct oneself professionally and perform duties accurately and efficiently.

Minimum Education Requirements

Associate's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences or medical laboratory technology OR high school diploma or equivalent combined with successful completion of military training of 50 or more weeks and service as a medical laboratory specialist.
