Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Medical Technologist/MLS to perform and interpret laboratory tests across multiple disciplines. You will monitor quality control, calibrate instruments, and ensure timely reporting of results for critical care areas.

The role requires flexibility for a 40-hour schedule including potential weekend coverage. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's in clinical laboratory sciences or medical technology, with MT/MLS certification to be obtained within 1 year.

• MT/MLS certification to be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests within established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and follows reporting procedures.
• Maintains calibration, maintenance, and repair of instruments and equipment.
• Ensures quality control and assurance according to protocol and corrects as needed.
• Collects specimens and provides guidance to staff and students.
• Supports training and education for medical laboratory staff and students.
• Improves lab procedures while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Performs proficiency testing and supports advanced testing areas as needed.
• Provides timely results for critical departments during high acuity events.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate patient care knowledge.
