Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests within established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and follows reporting policy.
• Performs calibration and maintenance of instruments and quality control.
• Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunctions; participates in proficiency testing.
• Collects specimens from patients according to protocol and ensures proper labeling.
• Provides technical assistance to Phlebotomists and support staff.
• Improves quality and efficiency of lab procedures while complying with CAP standards.
• Performs specialty testing in transfusion, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry.
• Supports critical care departments with timely and accurate lab results during high acuity events.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate patient care knowledge.
