Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests within established protocols and adjusts workflow to complete work timely.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports results following policy.
• Performs calibration and maintenance of instruments; conducts quality control and corrective actions as needed.
• Recognizes instrument or test malfunctions and takes corrective actions or notifies supervisor.
• Collects specimens from patients of various ages and ensures proper labeling and suitability for testing.
• Provides technical assistance to Phlebotomists and support staff.
• Supports quality improvements and CAP regulatory requirements in an acute setting.
• Performs proficiency testing and various specialty testing areas (transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, flow cytometry).
• Provides direct support with timely lab results for critical care departments during high acuity events.
