Family Care Network is seeking an Medical Laboratory Technician, ASCP, for FCN Laboratory Services in Bellingham, WA. This full-time, hourly role requires alternating day/evening shifts with 7:30am-3:00pm or 1:30pm-10:00pm schedules and a competitive wage.

Qualifications

  • Performs test analysis on patient specimens.
  • Performs and evaluates analysis of quality control, proficiency specimens, and patient specimens.

Position: Full-time, non-exempt (hourly). This position requires alternating between day and evening shifts on a weekly or biweekly basis. Scheduled hours are 7:30am-3:00pm for day shifts and 1:30pm-10:00pm for evening shifts.

Compensation

The full wage scale is $25.75 - $35.45 per hour. We also offer a $3.00 per hour shift differential for eligible evening and weekend hours. Placement within the wage range is determined by the candidate’s relevant experience.

  • Full-time employees generally begin earning 18 days of PTO, increasing 33 days over time per our PTO policy. You can rollover unlimited PTO hours into the next year.
  • PSL accrues at 1 hour per 40 hours worked
  • EIB accrues up to 32 hours per year (pro-rated based on hours worked) for both part-time and full-time employees, with a maximum of 480 hours

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Services Manager and in conjunction with the medical technologists, performs test analysis on patient specimens including blood, urine, culture samples and other body fluids. Performs test analysis on quality control samples, proficiency samples and performs equipment maintenance. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes and supports the Core Values of Family Care Network.

  • Maintains and troubleshoots equipment.
  • Consistently meets expected turnaround times.
  • Consistently leaves work area clean, organized and ready for the next shift.
  • Identifies unexpected results, errors and problems and follows up.
  • Communicates with physicians, AHPs, managers, clinical staff and processors as appropriate.
  • Participates in department process improvement work.
  • Adheres to assigned work schedule (attendance and punctuality).
  • Ensures timely renewal of required certifications.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation & Experience

  • Must be ASCP or equivalently licensed as a Medical Laboratory Technician
  • Medical laboratory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to: climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch. Employee is regularly required to: stand; walk and sit for long periods of time; use hand to finger coordination, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust and focus and discern colors.
