Job Summary and Qualifications

Position: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Role: The MLT utilizes skills and training to perform tests on blood, urine, and other body fluids to aid in diagnosis and evaluation. Participates in Quality Improvement activities and maintains cultural awareness when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues. Promotes a team-oriented environment and aligns with the facility’s mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities include:

• Handling specimen processing and preanalytic inspection for identification and integrity.
• Performing various laboratory tests, evaluating results, and reporting/verifying results in the Laboratory Information System.
• Conducting quality control as per policies.
• Evaluating new or modified procedures, reagents, and instruments.
• Troubleshooting instruments as directed.
• Participating in hospital initiatives and departmental goals.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or graduation from an NCCLS-accredited Medical Technician program.
• Hospital laboratory experience preferred.
