Pride Health is hiring a Medical Lab Technician I to support our client’s medical facility based in Birmingham, AL

This is a Contract job with a possible extension opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Location: Birmingham, AL

Schedule: 6 am - 2:30 pm M-F

Pay Range: $19-$25. Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.

Duration: 06+ months with possible extension

• Evaluate specimen acceptability based on established laboratory criteria.
• Perform both routine and complex testing procedures in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure accuracy and proper function.
• Make informed technical decisions related to testing and problem resolution.
• Prepare, test, and assess new reagents and quality control materials.
• Accurately report test results in a timely manner to support quality patient care.
• Document and perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Maintain inventory and replenish testing bench supplies as needed.
• Assist with specimen processing when necessary.
• Ensure a safe and compliant work environment by adhering to PPE and safety standards.

Qualifications: Associate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field (must meet local CLIA and state regulatory requirements).

1–2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory testing environment required.

State Medical Technician license may be required depending on local regulations (will be specified if applicable).

ASCP or AMT certification is preferred or required depending on position (to be listed if mandatory).

Proficiency in working independently as well as in team settings.

Comfortable using computers; familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is a plus.

Excellent attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills.

Must be able to pass a standardized color vision test.

Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed based on business demands.
