Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking qualified Medical Laboratory Professionals to perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing across core lab areas including microbiology, blood bank, and phlebotomy.

The role requires MLS or MLT certification, state licensure as needed (ND where applicable), and adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Travel to other facilities may be required, with opportunities for sign-on bonuses and premium pay.

Qualifications

• MLS: Bachelor's in lab/biological sciences.

Responsibilities

• Generalist position for all departments including core lab, microbiology, blood bank, and phlebotomy
• Every 3rd weekend 6:00am-2:30pm in specimen processing

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) $23.50 - 34.50

Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) $27.50 - 44.00

Summary

Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met.

Job Description

• Collect laboratory specimens, as needed.
• Process lab specimens and perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate skill in use of equipment relevant to position.
• Demonstrate critical and independent judgement in decision-making and problem-solving.
• Demonstrate personal commitment to the principles, values, and ethics of the organization to promote a positive work environment.

Qualifications

• MLS: Bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
• Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, valid driver's license may be required.
• MLT: Associates degree in Laboratory Science required.
• Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
