Job summary

Sanford Health in the United States seeks a Laboratory Technician to cover pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing phases. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences is required.
• Certification as MLS (ASCP or equivalent) or registry eligible is required.
• ND licensure may be required for ND residents.
• Associate degree in Laboratory Science (MLT) is required for the MLT track.
• Certification as MLT or CLT or registry eligible is required.

Responsibilities

• Collect laboratory specimens and process lab specimens.
• Perform clinical laboratory testing using manual and automated methods.
• Adhere to SOPs and ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrate judgment and problem-solving in daily tasks.
• Assist in training new staff and serve as a laboratory resource.
• May travel to other locations as needed.

This is a PRN position with the opportunity for full-time hours during the first few months to support temporary staffing needs. After the initial period, hours will transition to a PRN schedule based on department needs and employee availability.

Collect laboratory specimens, as needed. Process lab specimens and perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures. Demonstrate skill in use of equipment relevant to position. Demonstrate critical and independent judgement in decision-making and problem-solving. Qualifications

MLS: Bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.

Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

MLT: Associates degree in Laboratory Science required.
