Job summary

Texas Health Resources in Plano, TX is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the Laboratory team on a PRN basis with occasional weekend work. The role focuses on specimen handling, testing integrity, and timely results to support patient care.

Ideal candidates hold MT(ASCP) licensure or equivalent, internship completion, and preferred two years of laboratory experience, with opportunities to contribute across several projects and committees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science preferred.
• Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program required.
• Two years’ experience in a Medical Laboratory preferred.
• Licensed MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist 90 Days required or MLS(ASCP) - Medical Lab Scientist 90 Days required or other license as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating and solving problems related to collection and/or processing of specimens, maintaining specimen integrity throughout the testing process.
• Facilitates workflow process
• Checks outstanding tests list in a timely manner
• Troubleshoots and follows through on outstanding tests which appear to have not been collected/received when expected
• Knows and uses computer downtime procedures as needed when computer is not available
• Helps other hospital and laboratory coworkers to provide timely patient care

Here’s What You Need
