Endeavor Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) for per diem coverage at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, IL. The role involves evaluating tests, preparing blood components, antibody screening, and maintaining GMP-compliant operations.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science with MLS/MLT certification preferred. Strong communication and teamwork are essential as you contribute to quality control and patient care across shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science is required.
• MLS or MLT certification is preferred.
• New graduates are welcome.
• Strong foundation in medical laboratory science and ability to solve technical problems with supervision.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and interpret laboratory test results, recording and reporting findings accurately.
• Process and prepare blood components such as red blood cells, platelets, and plasma for transfusions following SOPs.
• Conduct antibody screening and compatibility testing on blood samples with advanced equipment and techniques.
• Maintain equipment, instruments, and supplies in good working condition; troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Ensure proper inventory management of blood products by monitoring expiration dates and stock levels.
• Adhere to quality control and quality assurance processes; perform routine checks and participate in proficiency testing.
• Perform routine processing and cryopreservation of HPCs according to SOPs using sterile technique and GMP.

Hourly Pay Range

$30.46 - $45.69 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights

• Position: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - Per Diem
• Location: Glenbrook Hospital
• Full Time/Part Time: Per Diem
• Hours: Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:30pm, rotating weekends and holidays

What You Will Do

• Evaluate and interpret laboratory test results, recording and reporting findings accurately
• Process and prepare blood components such as red blood cells, platelets, and plasma for transfusions, following standard operating procedures
• Conduct antibody screening and compatibility testing on blood samples, using advanced laboratory equipment and techniques
• Maintain equipment, instruments, and supplies in good working condition, troubleshooting issues as needed
• Ensure proper inventory management of blood products by monitoring expiration dates and maintaining appropriate stock levels
• Adhere to quality control and quality assurance processes, performing routine checks and participating in proficiency testing
• Performs routine processing and cryopreservation of hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC) according to SOP, using sterile technique and following Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

What You Will Need

• Education: Preferred: graduated from MLS (Bachelors) or MLT (Associates) program. Required (at least): Bachelor’s degree in a Biological Science
• Certification: Preferred: MLS or MLT certification
• Experience: Preferred: Previous relevant clinical experience. New graduates are welcome.
• Unique or Preferred Skills: Strong foundation in medical laboratory science. Able to solve technical and interdepartmental problems related to various Laboratory areas with assistance under supervision. Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel to assist with taking corrective action. Good communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.
