Endeavor Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) for per diem coverage at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview. The role involves evaluating test results, preparing blood components, performing antibody screening, maintaining equipment, and ensuring quality control.

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science (MLS/MLT preferred) with strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and interpret laboratory test results with accurate reporting.
• Process and prepare blood components for transfusions per SOP.
• Conduct antibody screening and compatibility testing with advanced equipment.
• Maintain equipment, troubleshoot issues, and manage supplies.
• Perform routine processing and cryopreservation of HPC under GMP and SOP.

Hourly Pay Range:$30.46 - $45.69 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.Position Highlights:Position: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - Per DiemLocation: Glenbrook HospitalFull Time/Part Time: Per DiemHours: Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:30pm, rotating weekends and holidaysWhat you will do:Evaluate and interpret laboratory test results, recording and reporting findings accuratelyProcess and prepare blood components such as red blood cells, platelets, and plasma for transfusions, following standard operating proceduresConduct antibody screening and compatibility testing on blood samples, using advanced laboratory equipment and techniquesMaintain equipment, instruments, and supplies in good working condition, troubleshooting issues as neededEnsure proper inventory management of blood products by monitoring expiration dates and maintaining appropriate stock levelsAdhere to quality control and quality assurance processes, performing routine checks and participating in proficiency testingPerforms routine processing and cryopreservation of hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC) according to SOP, using sterile technique and following Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).What you will need:Education: Preferred: graduated from MLS (Bachelors) or MLT (Associates) program. Required (at least): Bachelor’s degree in a Biological ScienceCertification: Preferred: MLS or MLT certificationExperience: Preferred: Previous relevant clinical experience. New graduates are welcome.Unique or Preferred Skills: Strong foundation in medical laboratory science. Able to solve technical and interdepartmental problems related to various Laboratory areas with assistance under supervision. Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel to assist with taking corrective action. Good communication and organizational skills.
