Job summary

Texas Health Resources is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Texas Health Plano location. This full-time role is in the Laboratory, working evenings (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM), Monday through Friday with occasional weekends.

The position focuses on evaluating specimens, maintaining integrity, and supporting timely patient care in a collaborative hospital environment. The ideal candidate has a Medical Technology-related degree, internship, and an MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) license or equivalent,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related science is preferred and internship is required.
• Two years of medical laboratory experience are preferred.
• Licensure as MT(ASCP) / MLS(ASCP) or equivalent is required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating and solving problems related to collection and/or processing of specimens, maintaining specimen integrity throughout testing.
• Facilitates workflow process in the lab and checks outstanding tests.
• Troubleshoots and follows up on tests not collected/received as expected and assists coworkers to deliver timely patient care.

Here’s What You Need

• Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science preferred
• Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program required
• Two years’ experience in a Medical Laboratory preferred
• Licensed MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist 90 Days required or MLS(ASCP) - Medical Lab Scientist 90 Days required or other AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS- CA, FL, NY state license, Philippine Board of Technical Technology Upon Hire required or M(ASCP) - Microbiology if working in Microbiology Upon Hire required or BB (ASCP) - Blood Banking if working in Blood Bank Upon Hire required

What You Will Do

Evaluating and solving problems related to collection and/or processing of specimens, maintaining specimen integrity throughout the testing process

• Facilitates workflow process
• Checks outstanding tests list in a timely manner
• Troubleshoots and follows through on outstanding tests which appear to have not been collected/received when expected
• Knows and uses computer downtime procedures as needed when computer is not available
• Helps other hospital and laboratory coworkers to provide timely patient care
