Job summary

Aspirus Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff, WI is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician for full-time or 0.9 FTE. The role requires day/PM rotation with every third weekend and holiday rotation, performing a range of high-complexity tests in the Central Clinical Laboratory.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in laboratory science and ASCP certification (MT/MLT/CLS) or is eligible within 6 months of hire; prior lab experience is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of laboratory standards and practices from a degree in laboratory science.
• Certification in MT/MLT/CLS preferred or eligible within 6 months of hire.
• Previous applicable experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Performs chemical, bacteriological, serological, hematological, and microscopic tests.
• Exercises independent judgment and interprets high-complexity testing per CLIA 88.

The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs chemical, bacteriological, serological, hematological, and microscopic procedures in the Central Clinical Laboratory that require the exercise of independent judgment and interpretation. All individuals in the job classification meet the qualifications necessary to perform high complexity testing as defined by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA 88).

Experience/Qualifications

• Knowledge of laboratory standards and practices acquired through completion of an associate or bachelor's degree in laboratory science.
• Previous applicable experience beneficial.
• Possesses active Medical Technology (MT-ASCP), Medical Lab Technician (MLT-ASCP) or CLS-NCA certification or attains within 6 months of hire.
