Job summary

Talentburst, Inc. is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for a dayshift position in Grand Rapids, MI. The contract spans 3+ months with responsibilities spanning specimen handling, testing, result reporting, and quality control.

The ideal candidate has an ASCP MT/MLT certification, laboratory testing knowledge, and the ability to work across multiple computer systems while maintaining records and adhering to regulatory guidelines (CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA).

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of basic laboratory testing.
• Good computer skills and ability to work in multiple computer systems.
• Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance in all areas of the laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures as per department SOPs.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
• Adhere to quality control policies and document calibrations and maintenance.
• Follow procedures when test systems are outside established performance levels.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and notify supervisor when needed.
• Document corrective actions taken for deviations from performance specifications.
• Report STATS or Critical results to clients as per department procedure.
• Answer questions from customers or other lab personnel when applicable.
• Maintain complete records of all testing performed on-site.
• Maintain the department's general appearance.
• Ensure reagents/test kits have received dates, expiration dates, and opened dates.
