Job summary

Avera DeSmet Memorial Hospital in De Smet, SD is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform clinical tests and maintain instrument operations.

This full-time role requires accurate testing, QA/QC adherence, and teamwork with healthcare staff. Eligible candidates should have an Associate's degree in MLT and MLT certification; PTO and career development opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Must have or be able to obtain Medical Laboratory Technology licensure or certification.
• Associate's degree or technical certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology required.
• Includes responsibilities for QA/QC, instrument maintenance, and test result interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of laboratory instrumentation and disciplines.
• Initiate corrective actions with MLS/supervisor support.
• Perform basic to complex clinical laboratory testing per procedures.
• Communicate lab data to departments and providers in a timely manner.
• Evaluate results and take corrective action with MLS/supervisor
• Engage in CQI activities and preventive maintenance as assigned.
• Provide guidance on proper specimen collection, handling, and storage.
