Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care—Iowa River Landing is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform complex laboratory analyses on blood, tissue and body fluids, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.

You will work with Medical Lab Technicians/Scientists, provide technical direction, interpret results, train staff, and contribute to quality assurance in a fast-paced clinical setting in Iowa City/Coralville area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology program from an accredited institution.
• Certification as MLS or MT from ASCP/HEW is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform highly complex quantitative and qualitative analysis on chemical, hematological, microbiological or immunology specimens.
• Provide technical direction and oversight on testing complexity and analysis of specimens.
• Evaluate laboratory test results and inform health care providers about test methods and interpretation.
• Train staff on quality assurance issues and interpretation.
• Mentor staff on quality assurance and corrective actions for patient samples.
