Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care—Iowa River Landing seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist to perform quantitative and qualitative testing on clinical specimens and provide interpretation support to health care providers. The role requires calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, with emphasis on quality control and regulatory compliance.

The position is full-time, on-site in Iowa City, with a 40-hour week and evening shifts.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology or ASCP/NCA MLT eligible.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Experience with quality control analysis and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis; microscopic examination where applicable.

Responsibilities

Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis on clinical and research specimens.
Provide test methodology interpretation to health care providers.
Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
Assist with reagent comparisons and cost-reduction improvements.
Maintain inventory and ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance.
