The lab at Stillwater Medical-Perry processes a high volume of lab samples with accuracy and is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our team!

• Full-time days: 6a-6p, Monday - Wednesday
• Works every other Thursday
• Weekends and holidays on rotation
• On-call at night on working days

Job Summary

Responsible for performing routine and advanced procedures in the General Laboratory section. Accountable for accurate results and proper use of quality control materials. Recognizes test interdependencies and conditions affecting results. Corrects own errors, maintains complex instruments, and may oversee work during absence. Must work independently with rotation of weekends, holidays, and shifts.

Qualifications

• Never convicted of a criminal offense related to health care
• Not listed as debarred, excluded, or ineligible for federally funded health care programs
• Registered (or registry eligible) Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist through ASCP, HEW, AMT, or equivalent
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently

Physical Requirements

• Strength and stamina for prolonged walking, standing, and stressful situations
• Ability to work in a latex-burdened environment
• Clear speech for communication with staff, physicians, patients, and colleagues
• Good hearing to operate technical equipment safely
• Motor skills for blood specimen collection, equipment handling, and office tasks
• Corrected vision to read test results; color vision evaluated as needed
• Ability to handle chemicals and bloodborne pathogens safely according to OSHA guidelines
