JOB SUMMARY

Location: HTPN Downtown Dallas TX

Department: Lab Chemistry

Shift: Evening, Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 11:30pm

Preferred Experience: ASCP MLS Generalist or equivalent, with at least 3 years of experience and a strong chemistry background.

The Med Lab Scientist 2 performs and monitors a full range of laboratory testing and research. They are responsible for problem resolution, quality control, and equipment maintenance with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

1. Performs laboratory tests in compliance with department procedures and regulatory requirements.
2. Follows quality control, assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
3. Performs instrument maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting.
4. Accurately reports test results.
5. Maintains inventory of supplies.
6. Communicates effectively with laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
7. Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
8. Demonstrates and teaches laboratory methods and skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience: Less than 1 year of experience.
• Certification/Licensing: Must have one of the following certifications: ASCP-BloodBanking Technologist, ASCP-Chemistry Technologist, ASCP-Cytogenetics Technologist, ASCP-Cytologist, ASCP-Hematology Technologist, ASCP-Intern'l Hematology Tech, ASCP-Microbiology Technologist, Molecular Biology Technologist, or ASCP-Specialist certifications in Histocompatibility, Cytology, Cytometry, or Molecular Biology. Alternatively, certifications from other recognized agencies or a grandfathered HEW license are acceptable.
