Summary of Job Duties: This position is for a Medical Laboratory Scientist I within the Cell Therapy Lab at UAMS. Responsibilities include processing, freezing, and storing hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC), participating in thawing and transplant procedures, performing high complexity testing, ensuring paperwork accuracy, performing Quality Control and Preventive Maintenance, and maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies. Assisting with inspections and audits is also required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
  • Eligible for ASCP Certification. Must obtain certification within 1 year of eligibility.

Additional Information:

Requirements:
  • Record and interpret test results accurately and consistently.
  • Perform quality control and preventive maintenance on lab equipment and temperature control systems.
  • Handle and process specimens properly, including patient identification, protocol triage, troubleshooting, grossing, embedding, and frozen sections.

Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience
