Job summary

Mercyhealth in Illinois seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform lab tests across hematology, urinalysis, chemistry, blood bank and microbiology using automated and manual methods.

You will ensure turnaround times, analyze results, perform quality control, maintain instrumentation, participate in training, and collect patient specimens. This role offers clinical teamwork in an integrated health system serving northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or military equivalent and qualified for high complexity testing per CLIA 493.1489.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process specimens; perform lab tests across hematology, urinalysis, chemistry, blood bank and microbiology.
• Analyze test results prior to charting for validity and accuracy.
• Ensure turnaround times and report critical results accurately.
• Perform quality control, calibration, and maintenance of instruments.
• Participate in instrument evaluation, teaching, and training of staff and students.
