Job Overview:

Processes, performs, and reports medical diagnostic testing on body fluids by automated and manual methods in a timely manner under the supervision of Senior Technologists.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Associate degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution; or high school graduate or equivalent with military medical laboratory procedures training and experience as a Medical Laboratory Specialist
• MLT certification from ASCP within 8 months of employment or equivalent

Scheduling Requirements:

• Per Diem
• Evening Shift

Essential Functions:

• Produces medical diagnostic test results efficiently and cost-effectively for stat and routine specimens
• Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs instruments and lab equipment as needed
• Maintains all necessary QC, QA, and repair records per accreditation standards
• Verifies orders from scripts and procedures in HIS and LIS
• Assists with clerical duties as needed
• Participates in training new employees and students
• Segregates laboratory waste according to policies
• Works on special projects as assigned by the Director
• Provides patient care appropriate to age groups served: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
