Responsibilities

  • Conducts lab sessions with MLT students and oversees lab processes.
  • Assists placement of students in clinical assignments and oversees online administration of clinical assignment courses.
  • Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses.
  • Develops programs and course outlines, goals and objectives.
  • Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Maintains equipment and supply inventories.
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.

Job Description
  • DESCRIPTION: The Technical Instructor is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for program.
  • Online or on campus courses may be required.
  • Conducts lab sessions with MLT students and oversees lab processes.
  • Assist placement of students in clinical assignments and oversee online administration of clinical assignment courses.
  • Periodic clinical site visits may be required.
  • Prepares students for national certification exam (ASCP/AMT).
  • Develop programs and course outlines, goals and objectives.
  • Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses.
  • Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Maintains equipment and supply inventories.
  • Maintains program certification requirements as required.
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
  • Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.
  • Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory/medical laboratory science or related life science field.
  • Current ASCP or AMT certification (MLS, MT, or MLT).
  • At least 3 years of recent work experience in a clinical or medical laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science, Education, or related program or field
  • ASCP MLS certification
  • 2 years or more experience in teaching or direct supervision of training.
