Job summary

MUHA is seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician to support high-quality laboratory testing in a clinical setting. Responsibilities include preparing specimens, performing routine tests, QC, troubleshooting instruments, and communicating results to clinical staff.

Certification through ASCP BOC or equivalent is preferred, with partial education accepting an associate degree and year-one certification within 12 months. Salary is hourly with a pay grade of Health-23.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related medical/scientific discipline.
• Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP BOC or equivalent preferred at time of hire; if not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
• Education: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with certification (MLT/ASCP) required or obtainable within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing and perform routine laboratory tests.
• Perform quality control and maintenance procedures.
• Recognize and troubleshoot computer data problems and laboratory instruments.
• Communicate technical information to medical and lay persons.
• Assist in training laboratory personnel and participate in continuing education.
• Recognize normal and abnormal values in test results.
