Job summary

Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, LA is hiring a Medical Lab Scientist/Technician (MLS/MLT) to perform high- and moderate-complexity testing across chemistry, hematology, coag, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank, and immunology. The candidate will follow QC/QA protocols and use the Laboratory Information System.

Required are an ASCP or AMT certification, an LSBME license as Clinical Laboratory Technician, an associate degree (bachelor preferred), and at least 6 months of clinical training

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; Bachelor degree preferred.
• Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or AMT.
• Current license as Clinical Laboratory Technician with the LSBME.
• At least 6 months of clinical training or MLT experience.
• Knowledge of waived to high complexity testing across multiple disciplines.
• Analytical computer skills and knowledge of lab workflow.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual and automated testing of moderate and high complexity.
• Work across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank and immunology.
• Follow QC/QA protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Be proficient with the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Participate in proficiency testing and ensure CAP/TJC/CMS/OIG compliance.

IMC is currently hiringaMedical Lab Scientist/Technician (MLS/MLT), who is responsible for maintaining skills in manual and automated testing of moderate and high complexity in all sections of the laboratory, which include chemistry, hematology and coag, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank, and immunology; following QC and QA protocols; becoming proficient in using the Laboratory Information System; abiding by all regulatory requirements including CAP, TJC, CMS, and OIG legal lab compliance; and participating in proficiency testing.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

• Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required, a Bachelor degree is preferred;
• Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or AMT;
• Current license as a Clinical Laboratory – Technician with the LSBME;
• 6 months Clinical training through an approved MLT training hospital or previous MLT experience;
• Working knowledge of testing of waived, moderate, and high complexity in the following disciplines: General Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Therapeutic Drugs, Toxicology, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Blood Bank, Parasitology, Serology, and Microbiology; and
• Analytical computer skills and knowledge of laboratory workflow.
